The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), has described the news that its national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has suddenly changed his stance on the Governor of Kano State, Kabir Yusuf, defectimg to the All Progressives Congress (APC), as a clear lie.
The NNPP said the former Kano State governor has not and will not change his stance on the issue.
“This is a terrible lie and a clear example of a shameful and obvious falsehood coming from people who clearly have no sense of right and wrong and are completely without any conscience,” said a statement signed by Ladipo Johnson, the national publicity secretary.
A report came out on Tuesday night stating that Kwankwaso has now backed the idea of Governor Yusuf and other elected members of the NNPP joining the APC.
He was reported to have shared his new stance in a short video message that was posted on Facebook on Tuesday and shared by his media assistant, Saifullahi Hassan.
Kwankwaso was quoted as saying he also knew that some NNPP members who hold elected or appointed jobs in the state were being pushed to join the APC.
However, Johnson said in his statement that “It has become clear that people who want to leave the party have ‘no self worth’ if they feel they have to lie to the public about Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s position.
“Intentionally twisting his words to trick people into thinking he supports their upcoming action is as childish and pitiful as it gets.
“We would like to kindly ask these people to leave the party if they decide to go. If you think you’re heading towards better opportunities and have the support of people around you, then go ahead.
“Do not try to trick people into thinking you have the support or approval of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.”
Johnson stated that to make it clear, the former Governor of Kano State has called out some members from the Kwankwasiyya and the NNPP, especially those led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for betraying the trust and the responsibility given to him by the people of Kano State.
“By God’s grace, the 2027 elections will pass, and those who chose to betray trust will face the judgment of the people of Kano,” he said.
