Dogara said that leadership and nation-building have never depended on perfect individuals, citing historical examples of how civilisations were built and sustained by ordinary people.
He said he’s not perfect despite his political experience but can boast of having some rich pedigree.
The former Speaker made the remarks on Sunday while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, where he was asked about the possibility of serving as vice-presidential candidate.
According to him, all his achievements are by the grace of God, adding that he remains conscious of his imperfections.
Dogara pointed to his experience as former Speaker of the House of Representatives, where he once ranked as the fourth-highest public officer in the country, saying it exposed him to important aspects of governance.
He said that position gave him access to knowledge and responsibilities that many people may not have encountered
