The police in Lagos State have initiated an investigation into the death of a 19-year-old boy who was allegedly beaten to death by his father. The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday. Hundeyin stated that the Alagbado Police Division received a report on Tuesday regarding the alleged crime.
According to Hundeyin, on July 5 at approximately 2:00 p.m., a man named Olumide inflicted a deep cut on his son, Adeyemi, during a disciplinary action using a shovel.
The incident occurred on the right-hand side of the victim’s body, causing him to sustain injuries from the impact of the shovel attack. Adeyemi was promptly transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, his condition worsened and he was subsequently transferred to General Hospital Ikeja, where he succumbed to tetanus infection, as confirmed by the attending physician.
The crime scene was examined by detectives from the division. However, the father of the victim is currently evading authorities and is considered at large. The case is currently under investigation.
