The President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, recently disclosed the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has been receiving recurrent orders from past buyers ever since it started production, a testament to the high quality of its products and excellent customer satisfaction.
The refinery has thus far exported its products to certain European countries, Singapore, and offshore Lome.
Speaking during a tour of both the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals and the Dangote Fertiliser Limited complex by members of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Dangote expressed his concern about a regulatory authority like the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) should be protecting local industries, however it is demarketing local industries to justify the need for the continued importation of dirty fuel into the country.
He urged the legislators to set up a committee that will take samples at filling stations and obtain samples from Dangote Petroleum Refinery and compare after test from a credible lab, as he stated all the test certificates being circulated by the regulators are fake.
Dangote emphasized the importance of determining the exact locations where these tests were conducted, in order to provide Nigerians with the truth they deserve to know.
He said, “I urge you to even set up a committee that will take samples at filling stations and take our own sample because I must tell you that all the test certificates people are flaunting around are fake certificates.
“Where are the laboratories where those tests were conducted? By doing this, you will be able to tell Nigerians the very truth that they deserve to know. De-marketing of a company by a regulator that it is supposed to protect it, is very unfortunate.
“We didn’t know that you were going to ask us to stop by the road and take samples from other filling stations. I didn’t know what you wanted to do until we got here and you requested for a test.
“It is even good that it is your members that went directly to get our samples and I am sure you were shocked by the result. With the result, you can see that we produce the best diesel in Nigeria.”
He further stated, “It is disheartening that instead of safeguarding the market, the regulator appears to be undermining it. Our doors are open for the NMDPRA to conduct tests on our products at any time, as transparency is of paramount importance to us. It would be beneficial for the regulator to showcase its laboratory to the world so that Nigerians can make an informed comparison. Our primary interest is the growth and development of Nigeria, as we recognize that if Nigeria does not progress, our own capacity for growth will be limited. We trust that you, the distinguished members of the audience, have witnessed the results of the credibility test and can attest to the quality of our refined products. I look forward to a constructive dialogue and collaboration to ensure the best interests of the Nigerian people are served.”
