The Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria (STOAN) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Abubakar Dantosho on his recent appointment as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

This commendation came through a statement released on Tuesday by STOAN Chairman, Mrs. Vicky Haastrup, who expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for selecting a well-qualified professional from within the NPA to lead the organization.

In her statement, Mrs. Haastrup emphasized the significance of Dr. Dantosho’s appointment. She noted that it was a fitting recognition of his extensive experience and dedication in the maritime sector. “On behalf of the Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria (STOAN), we offer our warmest congratulations to Dr. Abubakar Dantosho on his well-deserved appointment as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority,” Mrs. Haastrup stated. She highlighted that this role aligns with his long-standing commitment and expertise in the industry.

Mrs. Haastrup further expressed confidence in Dr. Dantosho’s potential to improve both the efficiency and revenue generation of the NPA. She praised his appointment as a testament to his exceptional skills and hard work. “We believe that Dr. Dantosho’s leadership will significantly benefit the NPA,” she said. “His proven vision and management capabilities will undoubtedly bring about positive changes, not only to the Authority but also to the broader maritime industry.”
Dr. Dantosho’s appointment is seen as a significant development for the NPA.

Announced by President Tinubu on July 12, 2024, this move marks a strategic decision for the organization. Dr. Dantosho brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the NPA’s operations, having previously held several critical positions within the Authority. His past roles include serving as Assistant General Manager, Technical Assistant to the Managing Director, Port Manager at Onne Port, and Principal Manager of Tariff & Billing.
These roles have equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of the NPA’s workings and the broader maritime landscape.

Dr. Dantosho’s academic credentials further bolster his suitability for the role. He holds a Doctorate in Maritime Technology from Liverpool John Moores University and a Master’s degree in International Transport from Cardiff University, both prestigious institutions in the United Kingdom. His educational background complements his practical experience, making him exceptionally well-prepared to lead the NPA towards greater achievements.

The STOAN Chairman’s statement also underscored the importance of the NPA’s leadership in fostering growth and efficiency within Nigeria’s ports. Mrs. Haastrup noted that Dr. Dantosho’s appointment comes at a crucial time for the maritime sector, which is central to Nigeria’s economic activities.

By leveraging his experience and innovative approach, Dr. Dantosho is expected to drive the NPA toward enhanced operational effectiveness and financial success.
Mrs. Haastrup and STOAN are optimistic about the positive impact of Dr. Dantosho’s leadership on the NPA and the wider maritime industry. They believe his appointment will lead to significant advancements and improvements in port operations and management. The association looks forward to collaborating with Dr. Dantosho and supporting his efforts to achieve the NPA’s goals.

The Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria congratulates Dr. Abubakar Dantosho on his appointment and expresses strong support for his leadership. The association is confident that his expertise and vision will greatly benefit the Nigerian Ports Authority and contribute to the growth and efficiency of Nigeria’s ports. They eagerly anticipate the positive changes that Dr. Dantosho will bring to the maritime sector and are committed to working together to achieve shared objectives.
