Chido Obi-Martin is set to become the first Nigerian Footballer to sign for Manchester United as Manchester United is on the verge of finalizing their third signing of the season, by closing in on the acquisition of teenage striker Chido Obi-Martin.

The 16-year-old player has declined the opportunity to remain at Arsenal, opting instead to join United, who have recognized his exceptional talent. It has been reported that Obi-Martin recently visited United’s Carrington training facility, where efforts were made to persuade him to make the move. The club is now optimistic about reaching an agreement with the young striker. Despite being offered a new youth contract by Arsenal, Obi-Martin has chosen to seek opportunities elsewhere.

With the deal in place, the recruitment of Obi-Martin would be considered a significant achievement for United. Obi-Martin has recently showcased his skill by scoring an impressive 29 goals in 17 league matches for Arsenal’s Under-18 team. This outstanding performance included several hat-tricks towards the end of the Under-18 Premier League season, as well as notable goal-scoring feats such as a seven-goal display in a match against Norwich and a five-goal contribution in a victory over West Ham.

Obi-Martin’s talents have not gone unnoticed, as he was a key player in Denmark’s qualification for the upcoming 2024 Under-17s Euros. He first caught the eye with a remarkable 10-goal performance in a 14-3 victory over Liverpool for Arsenal’s Under-16 team last November. It was recently hinted in a social media post by the player that he will be departing Arsenal, as he expressed gratitude in a caption accompanying a photo of himself celebrating a goal for the club.
