Dana Air has terminated the employment of its workers following the suspension of its operations after an incident involving one of its aircraft, which occurred upon landing at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on April 23, 2024.
The airline communicated to its employees over the weekend, instructing them to cease work until the airline recommences operations and rehires some of them.
The workers are adamant that they should receive their salaries if the company is terminating their employment.

In a statement signed by its Head of Communications, Kingsley Ezenwa, Dana Air stated, “Dana Air wishes to provide an update on the ongoing operational audit initiated by the regulatory authorities.
“The audit, currently in progress, is a collaborative undertaking between Dana Air and the authorities to ensure adherence to all requisite standards and regulations. Dana Air reiterates its dedication to full cooperation with the authorities to facilitate a seamless and expedited resolution of the audit process.

“In light of the ongoing audit, Dana Air has opted to temporarily lay off certain staff members pending the conclusion of the audit. This decision has been taken to ensure effective resource management and to enable a comprehensive review of operational procedures.”The Management of Dana Air expresses sincere gratitude to all staff members for their perseverance and commitment during this period of uncertainty. It acknowledges the challenges that staff have faced and assures them that every effort is being made to swiftly resolve the situation.”

The airline affirmed its commitment to providing updates and assistance to its staff throughout this process, and while addressing these challenges, revealing that it has initiated discussions with lessors and is presently engaging stakeholders on the progress made thus far.
“Dana Air therefore appeals for composure and understanding from our highly dedicated staff for their selflessness and stakeholders. The Management is diligently working to address any concerns and is formulating a plan for resuming operations that ensures safety and efficiency.
“Dana Air is confident that, with the continued support of its staff and stakeholders, it will overcome these challenges and emerge stronger than before,” it concluded.
