The Nigeria Police Force has released a journalist, Ayoola Babalola, who was arrested during the nationwide #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protests in Abuja. The 25-year-old journalist was arrested on Saturday and detained at Wuye Police Station under the Federal Capital Territory Police Command.
According to reports, Babalola was released around 3 pm on Sunday, after being detained for over 24 hours. In a statement, Babalola expressed his gratitude to all those who advocated for his release, stating, “I have been released. I was released around 3 pm today (Sunday).
The detention lasted for over 24 hours, but I’m home now. I am grateful to all who led their voices calling for my release.”
The civil society organization, Take-It-Back Movement confirmed Babalola’s arrest and demanded his immediate release.
