Overland Air, Nigeria’s oldest domestic airline, has announced that it will operate direct flights from Lagos to Abuja.
Beginning August 9, 2024, Overland Air will operate daily scheduled direct flights between Lagos and Abuja, operating more than 60 flights per week between the two cities and expanding the route’s capacity.
This comes amid worsening industry capacity constraints following the retirement of Arik Air’s aircraft.
The new service will be operated by Overland Air’s all-new Embraer E-175 jets in a two-class configuration with a premium cabin and an economy cabin, providing travelers with unparalleled comfort and convenience.
Overland’s Managing Director, Aduke Atiba, said in a statement: “The introduction of this new route is part of Overland’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for convenient and comfortable air services between Lagos and Abuja and relieving Nigerians of the difficulties they are experiencing on the route. The addition of the Lagos to Abuja return direct service to our expanding route network represents a significant milestone in our journey to serve our valued customers better.”
Overland Air received the second of six Embraer E-175 aircraft in June 2024, which was ordered at the 2021 Dubai Air Show. The first E175 will be delivered in September 2023, with four more to follow. The E175 is a modern, two-class jet with 88 seats.
