Authorities in Lagos State have arrested an unidentified man for the alleged murder of his eight-year-old son in the Epe region on August 5, following a dispute over a misplaced sewing thread. Reports indicate that the suspect became furious upon realizing that the child had lost the thread he had requested. In a fit of rage, he poured petrol on his son, which led to severe reactions, including the boy vomiting a white substance.
In an attempt to alleviate the child’s suffering, the suspect administered palm oil for him to drink. Tragically, the child lost consciousness and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The state police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and stated that an autopsy will be conducted on the deceased, while the suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba for further inquiry.
