On Thursday, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State conducted a swearing-in ceremony for five newly appointed commissioners and two special advisers. The event took place at the Government House in Port Harcourt, marking an important step in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the state’s executive council.

The newly appointed commissioners are Mr. Ilamu Abua, Dr. Roland Obed-Whyte, Mr. Austin Nadozie, Mr. Samuel Eyiba, and Dr. Samuel Anya. Each brings a wealth of experience and expertise to their roles, and they are expected to contribute significantly to the governance and development of Rivers State. The two new special advisers are Mr. Forgive Amachree and Mr. Achor Nna, who will provide valuable guidance and support in their respective areas.

During the ceremony, Governor Fubara emphasized the critical role that the new appointees will play in advancing the state’s development agenda. He highlighted that their primary focus should be on delivering tangible benefits to the residents of Rivers State. The governor stressed that his administration is dedicated to initiating and implementing projects designed to positively impact the lives of the people in the state. He urged the new commissioners and special advisers to align with this commitment and to work diligently to achieve the administration’s goals.

Governor Fubara noted that the state is facing various challenges, but these should not deter the appointees from performing their duties effectively. He urged them to remain focused and resilient, even when confronted with distractions or obstacles.

According to Fubara, the ultimate aim of their roles is to meet the expectations of the Rivers State populace and to contribute to the overall progress and well-being of the state.
The governor also expressed his confidence in the new team, acknowledging their qualifications and capabilities.

He assured them that they would receive the necessary support from the administration to carry out their responsibilities. Fubara’s speech underscored his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the continuous improvement of governance in Rivers State.

The ceremony was attended by various government officials and members of the public, reflecting the significance of the occasion. The appointment of these new officials is seen as a strategic move to enhance the effectiveness of the state’s executive council and to drive forward the developmental initiatives set out by the governor.

Governor Fubara concluded his remarks by reiterating the importance of teamwork and cooperation among the new appointees. He encouraged them to collaborate closely with each other and with other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the state’s policies and projects. The swearing-in of the new commissioners and special advisers marks a new chapter in the administration’s efforts to deliver on its promises to the people of Rivers State.
