A fire incident occurred in the early hours of today, Friday, at a seven-storey structure situated on Sanni Adewale Street within the Lagos Island Local Government Area. This information was conveyed in a statement by Margaret Adeseye, the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, via X.com.
Adeseye indicated that the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service received an emergency call at 05:17 hours and swiftly dispatched firefighters from the Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations, who arrived at the location by 05:33 hours.
She confirmed that the situation has been brought under control, with no reported casualties. The statement reads, “On August 16th, 2024, at 05:17 hours, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a fire outbreak on Sanni Adewale Street in the Lagos Island Local Government Area, which impacted several shops within the seven-storey building.
“Firefighters from the Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations responded promptly, reaching the scene by 05:33 hours. Thanks to the rapid response of the Lagos State Firefighters, the situation is now managed. Ventilation efforts are currently in progress to ensure the safety of all individuals in the vicinity. Initial investigations indicate that the fire was likely caused by an electrical surge. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties.”
