The newly appointed Super Eagles coach, Finidi George, emphasized that he does not succumb to pressure and called for the support of key stakeholders, including the media.
Addressing the audience after his presentation in Abuja yesterday, the former Enyimba of Aba coach stated, “In life, fear is not an option. Despite my reserved demeanor, I am undaunted by challenges. The worst outcome in football is failing to achieve the desired results, while the ultimate triumph is consistent victory. I am committed to ensuring the team’s optimal performance and securing victories.”

When asked if he feels pressured to justify his selection, the coach asserted, “I do not perceive pressure as a hindrance. I possess resilience and implore the media to provide their backing. The terms of the contract are clearly outlined, aligning with the objectives of the NFF and Nigeria as a whole. Personally, my primary focus is on securing our qualification for the World Cup. The AFCON qualifiers are imminent, but my immediate goal revolves around the upcoming matches against South Africa and Benin. A successful outcome in these games will establish a positive trajectory.”

During the unveiling ceremony, the NFF confirmed that Daniel Amokachi, the former Super Eagles striker, and Abiden Baruwa will serve as the assistant coach and goalkeeper coach, respectively.
Finidi’s initial task, having secured the Champions League victory with Ajax in 1995, is to secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
