The member representing Aba North/Aba South Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Mascot Ikwechegh has officially defected to the Labour Party (LP), four days after he resigned from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).
Ikwechegh, resigned from APGA last week with several APGA executives in Aba, on Tuesday he confirmed to journalists that he is now a member of the LP.
Shortly after declaring for the Labour Party, the lawmaker met with the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti.
While the details of the closed-door meeting he held with the Governor were not immediately revealed, political analysts believe the development has strengthened the Labour Party’s structure in Aba and across Abia State.
