Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has set an ambitious timeline of 24 months for the completion of the Abia International Airport project, despite the contractor’s initial 36-month timeline. This announcement was made during a service at Living Faith Church in Aba on December 22, where the governor emphasized his commitment to accelerating the project.
The airport, located in Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, had its groundbreaking ceremony on December 17, officiated by Governor Otti and Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo. Initially proposed as an airstrip in the 2024 federal budget, the state successfully secured approval to upgrade it to a full-fledged airport. Craneburg Construction Company is overseeing the project.
Speaking to the congregation, Governor Otti noted that his administration’s achievements in the past 18 months, describing them as just the beginning. He expressed optimism about delivering greater milestones, earning resounding applause from the attendees. The governor also used the opportunity to worship and thank the church for its support during his campaign.
The presiding pastor, Wilson Inyang, offered prayers for the governor, his entourage, and the state, alongside special prayers for the First Lady, Priscilla Otti, who celebrated her birthday that day.
