The African Democratic Congress accused the All Progressives Congress of acting like a terrorist organisation after Lagos violence. ADC accuses APC of terrorism
The incident occurred when suspected APC thugs attacked an ADC gathering inside a church premises in Alimosho Local Government.
ADC leaders, including Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, attended the meeting where property was seized, vehicles destroyed, and blood spilled.
National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi described the attack as desecration of a sacred place of worship.
He alleged APC-backed thugs targeted the opposition because the ruling party fears losing control ahead of future elections.
Abdullahi warned the attack marked a disturbing escalation of violence, spreading fear and intimidation across different Nigerian states.
The ADC accuses APC of terrorism while highlighting incidents of harassment, threats, and violence against its members in Edo, Kogi, Niger, and Kaduna.
It also cited violent attacks on convoys of ADC leaders in Kebbi, calling it a nationwide pattern of intimidation.
The party argued APC’s actions resemble tactics of organisations already classified as terrorist groups in international jurisdictions.
The ADC urged the Nigeria Police Force to act impartially, arrest perpetrators, and ensure justice is transparently delivered.
It stressed security agencies must remain loyal to Nigeria’s constitution, not function as extensions of the ruling party.
According to the party, Nigerians are watching closely, and the credibility of national institutions is already under serious trial.
The ADC maintained APC’s use of violence reflects failure to showcase achievements, instead relying on intimidation and dictatorship.
It vowed to continue engaging Nigerians peacefully and constructively, while firmly resisting efforts to silence its opposition leaders.
“The violence must stop immediately,” Abdullahi declared, insisting the ADC will not surrender to fear or political intimidation.
