The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the forthcoming Edo State Governorship Election, Osarenren Derek Izedonmwen, has vowed to ensure that every child in Edo has access to top-tier education, particularly in STEM fields—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics should he be elected governor.
In a heartfelt message to the children of Edo in honor of this year’s Children’s Day celebration, the ADC Candidate emphasized that during his tenure as the state governor, no child will be left behind.
Engr. Izedonmwen remarked, “As I reminisce about my own childhood, I am also elated to connect with the young students of Edo State today on the occasion of the Children’s Day celebration.

“Looking back on my formative years, I was fortunate to receive a robust educational grounding through the universal education system instituted by Prof. Ambrose Alli in the former Bendel State, now Edo and Delta states.

“This foundational education has been pivotal in my personal journey, showcasing the emancipatory influence of education, propelling me to aspire to high leadership roles and contribute to our society.
“Driven by this rich heritage, I am dedicated to ensuring that every child in Edo State, irrespective of their background, is afforded the same opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
“Education stands as the bedrock of any flourishing society, and as we reflect on the legacy of Prof. Ambrose Alli, we are reminded of the transformative potential of accessible education.
“My resolve is resolute: to guarantee that each child in Edo has access to exceptional education, particularly in STEM fields—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. These disciplines are not merely academic pursuits; they serve as gateways to innovation and economic advancement.

“Under my stewardship, no child will be marginalized. We will markedly diminish the number of children out of school and ensure that our educational system equips a technologically adept workforce to lead Edo state towards a prosperous future.
“The security and welfare of our children will be paramount, fostering an environment where everyone, especially our young scholars, can feel safe and esteemed.
“Let us commemorate this Children’s Day by pledging to a future where every child’s potential can be realized. Stand with me in envisioning an Edo state that champions education and affords every child the chance to excel and contribute meaningfully to our society.
“Happy Children’s Day to all the remarkable children of Edo State! May this day shine as brightly and promisingly as the future we endeavor to construct together,” he proclaimed.
