The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, to resign if he cannot address the deteriorating insecurity in the state.
Chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Kabiru Garba, made the statement on Monday during the ADC’s “Hand Shake Day” held at Maryam Hall in Gusau, the state capital.
Garba expressed deep concern over the incessant bandit attacks across Zamfara, saying Governor Lawal has failed to protect lives and property.
“It is high time the Governor provided a lasting solution to the insecurity bedeviling the state. Otherwise, he should resign,” he said.
The ADC chairman equally called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to wake up to his responsibility and address the worsening security situation in Zamfara and other parts of the country.
“We condemn the ADC blasts Gov Lawal attacks on our people and urge the government to take decisive steps. Let them talk to the bandits if that’s what will bring peace,” he added.
Garba said residents were losing hope in the current administration and now turning to ADC for a new direction.
He revealed that the party had registered over 75,000 new members in Zamfara alone, with expectations to hit 100,000 before the 2027 general elections.
“We have registered no fewer than 75,000 new members. The people of Zamfara have seen a brighter future in ADC.
“God willing, we are ready to rescue the state and Nigeria at large come 2027,” he added.
