Communal clashes in Osun State took a turn for the worse on Saturday, prompting Governor Ademola Adeleke to
impose a 24-hour curfew on the affected areas.
The violence, which began in Ifon and Ilobu communities, has spread to Erin Osun, displacing many residents.
Adeleke’s swift response to the crisis aims to contain the violence and ensure the safety of residents.
The governor had initially imposed a 12-hour curfew, but the situation’s escalation necessitated a more stringent
measure. The 24-hour curfew is expected to help security forces restore order and prevent further bloodshed. Adeleke
has also mobilized a joint security task force to tackle the crisis.
In a statement, the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, assured residents that Adeleke is committed to
securing their lives and properties. The governor has also updated the state’s presidency on the development.
The clashes have resulted in the displacement of many residents, with some northerners fleeing the area in buses.
The situation remains tense, but Adeleke’s administration is working to restore calm.

Meanwhile, the governor’s office has warned against the circulation of old videos of communal conflicts in Osun
State, aimed at spreading false information about insecurity in the state.
