Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi has equalled a 12-year-old record held by former captain John Obi Mikel following Nigeria’s 2-1 victory against Tanzania in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), opener on Tuesday night.

Iwobi provided two crucial assists that proved decisive in Nigeria’s victory against the Taifa Stars in Morocco.
