The ongoing security crisis in Ondo State has taken a new turn as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, has called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to seek urgent assistance in addressing the
escalating security challenges.
Ajayi’s call is coming on the heels of rising cases of kidnapping, banditry, and killings in the state, which he described
as a clear indication of the governor’s “ill-preparedness and incompetence” in leadership.
The PDP candidate expressed concern that the security gains achieved under the late Governor Oluwarotimi
Akeredolu have been eroded, and the current administration’s handling of state affairs has been sluggish and lethargic.
Ajayi noted that previous administrations effectively managed security challenges in Ondo, preventing a full-blown
crisis, but the current situation is deteriorating.

He called on Governor Aiyedatiwa to revamp Amotekun, the state’s security network, and re-establish Armed Forest
Guards to police forests and uproot criminal elements.
Ajayi also urged the governor to ensure effective administration of the over N1 billion security vote, which he claimed
has not yielded any tangible results.
The PDP candidate’s criticism of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s handling of the security crisis is not isolated, as many
residents of Ondo State have expressed frustration and disappointment with the government’s response.
The security challenges in Ondo have also been exacerbated by the recent killing of five farmers, which sparked a protest in the state capital, Akure.
