The National Opposition Coalition Group has moved to register All Democratic Alliance with INEC ahead of 2027 elections.
Rotimi Amaechi, a former minister, now leads the New Platform Committee tasked to register All Democratic Alliance.
David Mark, former Senate President, chairs the coalition which approved this plan during a key Abuja meeting.
A statement signed by Amaechi and Umar Ardo detailed resolutions made during their strategic gathering on May 6, 2025.
The New Platform Committee, made up of 15 members, oversees the process to register All Democratic Alliance formally.
According to their plan, subcommittees were created and several reports submitted before reaching final resolutions last week.
On Thursday, June 19, 2025, the coalition endorsed the ADA’s logo, motto, and slogan as foundational identity markers.
The committee also ratified ADA’s draft constitution, manifesto, and selected its interim leadership for official party operations.
Chief Akin Ricketts was named Protem Chairman while Abdullahi Musa Elayo became Protem National Secretary of ADA.
The interim leaders have received approval to secure a party office and open a bank account for operations.
They will also handle financial transactions and manage activities under the 2022 Electoral Act and ADA’s constitution.
This move signals serious realignment as key politicians strategize to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Talks are reportedly ongoing among Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Nasir El-Rufai to form a broader alliance.
Atiku’s spokesperson confirmed exploratory meetings with other major players aimed at floating a powerful 2027 opposition coalition.
Despite this momentum, the ruling APC has dismissed the efforts, insisting such a coalition will not succeed.
Observers believe the steps to formalize ADA may reshape Nigeria’s political landscape before the next general election.
