Along with hundreds of followers, Atuekong Felix Udoh, a former chairman of the local government in Obot Akara, Akwa Ibom State, has formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Political leaders in the state have referred to the defection, which happened over the weekend in Nto Ide, as “the beginning of the festival of defections”.

House of Representatives member Dr Patrick Umoh welcomed Udoh and commended his action, promising Akwa Ibom further democratic benefits.

Joseph Tombere, the APC Senatorial Chairman for Akwa Ibom North West, said he was confident that Udoh’s experience will give the people more chances.

During his speech, Udoh thanked Senate President Godswill Akpabio, President Bola Tinubu, and Representative Patrick Umoh for their leadership efforts, which he said were having a beneficial impact on communities.

“I have served the Peoples Democratic Party faithfully for twenty-seven years. It is said that if you want improvement in life, you need to change, but to be perfect, you must change often,” Atuekong Udoh said.

The event’s high point was when Hon. Nsisong, the chairman of the Obot Akara chapter, presented Atuekong Udoh and hundreds of other defectors, followed by a ceremonial reception hosted by the state chairman. Chief Ntukekpo joins the Congress of All Progressives.
