President Bola Tinubu has made appointments into positions, including board chairmanships of government agencies, parastatals, and institutions. The list, which includes some top members of the ruling party, including the party’s chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, appointed as the board chairman of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria.
Senator Bashiru Ajibola, the APC National Secretary, has also been selected as the National Sugar Development Council’s board chairman.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), confirmed the appointment in a statement on Friday.
The statement read, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed board chairpersons for 42 federal organizations and a secretary to the board of the Civil Defence, Immigration, and Prisons Services.”
“The President has also appointed a new managing director for the Nigerian Railway Corporation and a director-general for the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).”
He stated that Tinubu appointed Sulaiman Argungu, former deputy governor of Kebbi State, as chairman of the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Company.
Similarly, Magnus Abe, a long-time ally of the President and former Senator representing Rivers South-East, was named Chairman of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall.
According to the presidential spokesman, Tinubu directed the “board chairpersons not to interfere with the management of the organizations, emphasizing that their positions are non-executive.”
