The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has downplayed the opposition Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) ambition to unseat Governor Biodun Oyebanji in the 2026 governorship election.
APC Publicity Secretary Segun Dipe described the PDP’s aspirations as unrealistic, citing the ruling party’s strong performance and the disorganized state of the PDP in Ekiti. He stated that the opposition should redirect its focus to the 2030 elections instead.
Dipe emphasized Oyebanji’s achievements, including infrastructural developments such as a completed cargo airport, road networks, and salary payments under the new salary structure.
In contrast, the PDP, through the Ekiti State PDP Frontier Group, called for unity to achieve their goal of defeating Oyebanji in the next election. The group highlighted dissatisfaction among residents with the APC administration, claiming mismanagement of state resources.
