The APC National Convention delegates have been confirmed at 8,453, according to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday.
Speaking at the APC World Media Briefing, Idris explained that the delegates will come from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. He noted that this wide representation highlights the ruling party’s national spread, organisational strength, and commitment to inclusiveness.
Idris emphasised that the APC National Convention delegates will play a crucial role in reinforcing party unity. He added that the gathering aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at advancing national development.
According to him, the large number of participants demonstrates the party’s democratic maturity and readiness to deepen internal cohesion. Furthermore, he stressed that inclusiveness remains a core principle guiding the convention’s planning and execution.
Meanwhile, the minister assured journalists that organisers have finalised arrangements to accommodate all APC National Convention delegates effectively. He stated clearly that no accredited participant will be excluded from the event.
Idris explained that the party has adopted a flexible budgeting system designed to adjust and meet the needs of every delegate. Consequently, he expressed confidence that logistics will run smoothly throughout the convention period.
Improved Security, Seamless Delegate Movement
Addressing security concerns, Idris revealed that the movement of APC National Convention delegates and committee members has remained smooth and incident-free so far. He attributed this development to improvements in national security and ongoing infrastructure upgrades.
Notably, he maintained that authorities do not anticipate disruptions, reinforcing confidence in the safety of participants arriving from different regions.
To ensure transparency, Idris announced that organisers will establish a fully equipped media centre at the venue. This facility will support accredited journalists covering the APC National Convention delegates and related activities.
He invited media organisations to participate actively, assuring them of full access and accreditation for effective reporting.
In conclusion, Idris urged journalists to maintain professionalism while reporting on the Convention. He stressed the importance of accurate and responsible journalism in promoting national interest.
Ultimately, he reminded media practitioners that Nigeria’s unity and stability should remain central to their coverage of the event.
