On December 10, 2024, troops from the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army successfully rescued four kidnapped victims in the Ugbolu forest, located in the Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State. The rescue operation followed intelligence gathered about the activities of suspected kidnappers in the area.
According to Major Emmanuel Onoja, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the operation took place after troops raided the kidnappers’ hideout on December 9. The soldiers engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them and forcing them to abandon their captives as they fled into the dense forest.
Onoja confirmed that the four kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed and are now in a safe location where they are receiving care and support. He added that the army is actively pursuing the fleeing kidnappers to bring them to justice.
The army spokesman also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities, assuring them that the Nigerian Army remains committed to eliminating criminal elements and ensuring the safety of citizens in the state.
