Arsenal have emerged as potential suitors for Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, with reports suggesting the Reds may be open to selling him this summer. The Portuguese international, who joined Liverpool from Wolves in 2020 for £45 million, has been a key attacking presence when fit but has struggled with persistent injuries. New Liverpool manager Arne Slot is reportedly frustrated by Jota’s fitness issues, which have seen him miss 95 matches over four and a half seasons at Anfield.
Despite his injury woes, Jota remains one of Liverpool’s most clinical forwards. He has scored eight goals and provided two assists in 20 appearances this season, including three goals off the bench. However, concerns over his availability—having started just 11 games across all competitions—have led Liverpool to consider parting ways with him for the right fee. Arsenal, who were linked with Jota last summer, could reignite their interest as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking options.

The Gunners’ pursuit of Jota has intensified due to Gabriel Jesus’ injury struggles, with the Brazilian forward expected to miss the start of next season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Arsenal’s need for a new No. 9 is growing, and Jota, alongside names like Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, has been identified as a potential target. While Liverpool would prefer not to sell to a direct rival, they may consider an offer if it meets their valuation.
Jota recently returned from a short injury spell, coming on as a substitute in Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Tottenham. His impact was felt as the Reds secured a place in the Carabao Cup final. With 64 goals in 165 matches for Liverpool, his scoring ability is undisputed, but the ongoing fitness concerns have put his long-term future at Anfield in doubt.
Arsenal’s lack of attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window was a source of frustration for Arteta, who confirmed that the club actively explored options but was unable to finalize a deal. “We had a clear intention which is always, when a window opens, to explore opportunities to improve our squad with players that can make an impact,” Arteta said earlier this week.
