Bandits Strike in Katsina: Police Personnel, 20 Others Killed in Ambush

The Police Command in Katsina State has affirmed the murdering of no less than 20 individuals, four police officers, and two agents of the state-owned Community Observe Corps by a few suspected desperados.
ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the command’s Open Relations Officer, uncovered this in an articulation in Katsina on Monday.
Agreeing with him, the assault happened on Sunday, at Gidan Tofa and Dan Nakwabo towns, all in Kankara near the Government Range of the state.


He said, “Yesterday, June 9, 2024, desperados in their numbers, outfitted with unsafe weapons, assaulted the towns, shot and murdered 20 individuals, harmed two, and trapped our Armored Staff Carrier (APC) watch group.
“The group was reacting to the trouble call, murdering four police officers and two individuals of the Katsina State Community Observe Corps (KSCWC).
“The reality of the case is that on the same date, a trouble call was gotten at the Kankara Divisional Base camp.
“That desperados in their numbers, riding on bikes, equipped with unsafe weapons, shooting sporadically, assaulted Gidan Baki town, Kankara LGA, murdering clueless villagers.
“Immediately, the closest APC watch group was dispatched to the scene. Whereas en course to the town, the group found that the assault was really on Gidan Boka town through Yar Goje town, all in Kankara.
“The group rapidly diverted towards the scene. Upon coming to Kurmeji town by means of Yar goje, the group fell into an snare, where a firefight followed between the group and the bandits,” Sadiq-Aliyu said.
Concurring to him, upon receipt of the data on the assault of the reacting group, quickly the DPO assembled and driven a group of agents to the scene and reestablished regularity.

He clarified that amid preparatory examination, it was uncovered that the outlaws assaulted Gidan Boka town, murdering 15 individuals and harming two others.
“They moreover trapped our watch group and slaughtered four police officers, three Reviewers and one Corporal and two individuals of the Katsina State Community Observe Corps (KSCWC).
“Also, the outlaws, whereas getting away through Dan Nakwabo town, shot and murdered five people. Advance improvements will be communicated as the examination proceeds,” agreeing to Sadiq-Aliyu.
He uncovered that the command has sent extra operational resources to the range to work with all the pertinent partners towards avoiding the repeat of the assaults and guaranteeing the capture of the culprits.
The Commissioner of Police within the state, whereas communicating his express alarm over the awful occurrence, amplified his condolences to the families and companions of those influenced by the incident,” Sadiq-Aliyu said. (NAN)
