A total of three people have been confirmed dead as a result of a building collapse at NO 13 Wilson Mba Street, Arowojobe Estate Maryland, Lagos State. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday. Officials from the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) are currently engaged in rescue efforts at the site of the collapse.
The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, has officially confirmed the incident, noting that two individuals were successfully rescued from the debris. According to Oke-Osanyitolu, three adult males were tragically found dead, while two other adult males were rescued alive. Additionally, one adult male who was trapped under the rubble was also rescued alive by the joint efforts of LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire Service. It was disclosed that all six individuals involved were workers at the construction site. Those who were rescued are currently receiving medical attention on site, and efforts are being made to recover the remains of the three individuals who lost their lives. It is worth noting that this incident adds to a concerning trend of building collapses in Lagos State and other regions of the country.
