In yet another political party switch, Umo Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State has formally defected from the People’s Democratic Party to the All Progressive Congress.
He announced this in an official statement on Friday in Uyo, the state capital.
The governor stated that the decision came after three months of “wide consultation” with crucial stakeholders across the state.
Eno thanked the PDP for their support during his tenure, saying it was time for him to make a progressive move.
The governor stated that he joined the APC because he admires President Bola Tinubu and believes that Akwa Ibom State must unite with the federal government in order to gain continual benefits.
Eno further promised the people of Akwa Ibom State that he would continue to work diligently for their benefit, regardless of political allegiance.
“After completing the rounds of my consultation as your servant whom you have elected to serve, I have therefore decided to progressively move to the APC,” Eno said.
APC governors visited Akwaibom State to officially welcome Eno into the party.
The event was attended by APC governors such as Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State; Bassey Otu of Cross River State; Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State; and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun.
Others are Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Edo State’s Monday Okpebholo, and Ebonyi State’s Francis Nwifuru.
