The Trans-Niger Pipeline in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area, Rivers State, was hit by an explosion, multiple reports have confirmed.
Although the precise reason for the explosion is still unknown, the major pipeline’s impacted section is already on fire.
Authorities are still unsure if human intervention caused the incident, particularly in light of recent threats by militant organisations to attack oil sites in retaliation for the Federal Government withholding Rivers State’s allocation because of the continuing political situation.
According to reports, the crucial export pipeline that delivers petroleum to the Bonny Terminal was the site of the explosion on Monday night.
