The Lagos State Government has encouraged civil servants to uphold proper hygiene practices in order to prevent the contraction of cholera and other water and airborne diseases.
During the monthly fitness walk organized for public servants in the state, the Permanent Secretary of the Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, imparted this advice today.
Oyegbola emphasized that the State government is diligently working towards creating a safe environment for residents, reaffirming that the current administration is dedicated to the welfare of public servants and the citizens of Lagos State.
She urged public servants to view the regular practice of walking as a vital aspect of maintaining good health, highlighting the importance of health as a valuable asset.
Furthermore, Dr. (Mrs.) Emmanuella Zamba, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Health Management Agency, stressed the necessity of enhanced hygiene practices in schools, offices, and homes.
Zamba emphasized the importance of seeking medical attention at recognized hospitals upon experiencing symptoms of diseases like fever, vomiting, rapid dehydration, muscle cramps, and potential collapse.
She mentioned that the Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, and the Ministry of Agriculture, is resolute in strengthening community sanitation initiatives to prevent outbreaks.
Regarding the fitness walk, Zamba highlighted that the purpose was to raise awareness about the significance of regular exercise, underlining that walking plays a pivotal role in transforming lives and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
