Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has called on the people of the state, especially eligible voters in Ahoada East and Khana Local Government Areas, to participate in the by-election scheduled for today, Saturday, February 21, 2026.
The governor made the call at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
He described the election as a family affair and urged residents to come out in large numbers to support the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), contesting for the two vacant seats in the State House of Assembly.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, Governor Fubara urged the people to remain peaceful and law-abiding throughout the exercise.
“Everybody should be law-abiding and avoid doing anything that will disturb the peace during the exercise.
“It is actually a family election, and there is no need for rancour and acrimony,” he said.
The Saturday election is to fill the vacancies in the Rivers State House of Assembly for Ahoada East State Constituency II and Khana State Constituency II.
