Cryptocurrency company OKX has announced that it will stop providing services to users in Nigeria starting August 16, 2024.
OKX notified customers via email of the end of services in Nigeria. “Action required: Notice regarding your account. We are discontinuing OKX services in Nigeria after recent changes in local laws and regulations,” the email stated.
“This is based on our ongoing evaluation of policies in each market in which we serve.
“After August 16, 2024, our clients will no longer be able to open new positions on the platform or access any services, except for withdrawals and closing/redeeming open positions.”
OKX is asking clients to close their accounts by 12:00 AM PST on August 16th, to review and complete the necessary steps as follows:
Step 1: Close all P2P, Margin, Perpetual, Futures, Options, positions and orders.
Step 2: Close all USDT, DAI, and EURT spot orders.
Step 3: Redeem all assets in Grow products including Earn, Loan, and Jumpstart.
Step 4: Transfer your assets from your OKX account to the wallet of your choice.
For customer accounts after August 16th, OKX states that they will only be able to withdraw assets, but will not be able to deposit or perform other transactions.Regarding how long it will take to withdraw funds, the cryptocurrency company states: “While your funds remain safe and accessible in your account, we strongly encourage you to transfer your funds to a private wallet or account by 12:00 AM on August 30, 2024 (PST) to make it more visible on other third-party platforms.
“After August 30, 2024, you will need to contact our customer service team for any account-related actions. We strongly encourage you to withdraw or transfer your funds before this date, as any remaining funds may be subject to further restrictions in accordance with our Terms of Use and local law.
