The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, visited the CGC in Abuja over the weekend to deepen collaboration in improving border security and ultimately to facilitate legitimate cross-border trade.
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, visited the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, over the weekend and expressed deep appreciation for the agency’s consistent support in promoting trade facilitation and strengthening border security in the state.

Governor Zulum acknowledged the strategic importance of Borno State, located at the juncture of Nigeria’s borders with Cameroon, Chad and Niger. He stressed the need for greater collaboration to improve both security and trade flows in this critical region.
His remarks underscored the important role that a harmonious partnership with the Nigerian Customs Service plays in addressing the unique challenges facing Nigeria. Governor Zulum expressed his sincere gratitude and commended the Nigerian Customs Service for its dedication and proactive measures in securing Borno’s borders.
He said, “We deeply appreciate the steadfast support of the Nigeria Customs Service. Our state’s proximity to three international borders demands vigilant management. Strengthening our alliance with the Customs Service is crucial to ensuring the safety, stability, and economic prosperity of Borno State.”
Responding, CGC Commissioner Adewale Adeniyi commended the Governor for his visit and reiterated his unwavering commitment to serve the state. “The support from Borno State has been instrumental in allowing us to effectively fulfill our duties. We remain resolute in our mission to facilitate legitimate trade while ensuring the integrity and security of our nation’s borders,” CGC Adeniyi asserted.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Governor Zulum extended a warm invitation to the Inspector General to visit Borno State, expressing his desire to deepen the fruitful partnership between the state and the Nigerian Customs Service to achieve further progress and mutual benefits.
