Dangote Refinery Petrol Price Drops as Direct Fuel Distribution Begins September 15

Dangote Refinery has announced a reduction in its premium motor spirit (PMS) retail price nationwide, alongside a new direct petrol distribution scheme set to begin Monday, September 15, 2025.

The refinery, which recently clashed with the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), said the initiative would allow it to distribute petrol and diesel directly to consumers using 4,000 compressed natural gas trucks at zero logistics cost.

According to Dangote Group, the new Dangote Refinery petrol price remains at N820 per litre, the same as last month’s gantry price.

  • In Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti, the retail price now stands at N841, down from N860 per litre.
  • In Abuja, Edo, Delta, Rivers, and Kwara, the price has dropped to N851, compared to the previous N885 per litre.

This adjustment means consumers in Lagos and the South-West will enjoy a N19 reduction, while Abuja, North Central, and South-South residents will save N34 per litre.

The company confirmed that the new fuel distribution initiative will take effect on September 15, 2025, ensuring that willing consumers can access petrol directly at reduced costs.

However, Dangote Refinery clarified that its price template is not binding on independent petroleum marketers and retailers, except for MRS and its official distribution partners.

Meanwhile, NUPENG has threatened to resume strike action against Dangote Group, accusing the company of reneging on resolutions reached in a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Dangote Group, however, maintained that it respects workers’ rights and the principle of voluntary union membership.
