In a recent move by political opposition coalition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Senate President David Mark has been reported to thair the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the interim.
The coalition group which includes prominent figures such as former vice president Atiku Abubakar, 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, former governors; Nasir El-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi, has settled David Mark as the interim national chairman of the party.
The decision came after months of negotiations aimed at forming a credible opposition bloc to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election. The coalition aims to oust President Bola Tinubu in 2027 from Aso Rock, and reposition the country for tangible progress.The ADC’s current leadership has also agreed to step aside to accommodate the coalition, with party members already beginning integrating opposition figures at the grassroots level nationwide.
