Multi-award-winning Nigerian Afrobeat Singer David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has filed a case in a Lagos State High Court against his Babymama Miss Sophia MOmodu over the custody of their daughter Aurora Imade.
Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke is named as the applicant in the lawsuit with the filing number LD/1587PMC/2024, dated April 17, 2024, with Ms. Sophia Momodu listed as the only respondent. In his plea, Davido asked the judge to grant Imade joint custody.
Additionally, Davido asked the court to issue an order allowing him complete and unhindered access to Imade. The musician stated that even though he and Sophia Momodu’s relationship, which gave birth to Imade, ended some years ago, he has continually provided all necessary payments for the well-being/upkeep of Imade.
According to Davido, he has been responsible for Imade’s tuition and has also been paying the sum of five million Naira (5.000.000) as rent for the apartment where Sophia Momodu and their daughter live. But he said Momodu was making ridiculous demands just to irritate him and deny him access to his daughter.
The singer further stated that Miss Sophia Momodu rejected his offer of a N200 million residence in Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos, which is a gated condominium development with a swimming pool and a 24-hour power and water supply. He stated, “The respondent insisted that I continue to pay N5,000,000 annually for a rented facility as my own contribution towards my daughter’s accommodation, despite my having already purchased the above-described secured Oniru apartment.”
