Kylian Mbappe made a significant impact on his highly anticipated debut for Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta on Wednesday, scoring to extend Carlo Ancelotti’s team to a 2-0 lead. The 25-year-old French forward, who has been the subject of interest from the Spanish club for several years, officially joined Los Blancos this summer after concluding his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
Following a subdued first half, Mbappe showcased his finishing prowess when he found the net in the 68th minute, thanks to an assist from Jude Bellingham. Earlier in the match, Fede Valverde had opened the scoring for the Champions League holders, as they aimed to secure the Super Cup title for a record sixth time against the Italian Europa League champions in Warsaw.
In this inaugural competitive match of the season, Mbappe was positioned centrally in the attack, flanked by Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes, with Bellingham providing support from midfield. Although he faced challenges in the first half, including a blocked shot by Isak Hien, he capitalized on his opportunity when Bellingham set him up.
Despite not participating in the club’s pre-season tour in the United States, Mbappe was introduced to over 80,000 fans at the Santiago Bernabeu on July 16, before returning to training just a week ago.
