The Delta State Police Command has apprehended five individuals connected to the theft of a luxury bus belonging to Young Shall Grow Motors. The suspects, who were paraded at the Ekpan Police Station, allegedly planned to dismantle and sell the stolen vehicle.
State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, revealed that the operation involved insider knowledge, as one suspect, a former employee of the logistics company, exploited his familiarity with the vehicle’s security protocols.
The group transported the bus from Aba to Warri, intending to sell it to scrap dealers for N5 million. However, their plan was foiled when the scrap dealers demanded documentation, following recent warnings from the Divisional Police Officer about purchasing undocumented vehicles.
Thanks to intelligence gathering, the police intercepted the vehicle before it could be disassembled. The suspects are now in custody and face charges as investigations continue.
