Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused his successor, Governor Uba Sani, of sponsoring terrorism in Kaduna.
Speaking in a widely circulated video, El-Rufai expressed disappointment, saying Sani—whom he once regarded as his godson—failed to uphold peace.
The former governor alleged that Sani abandoned his principles of tolerance, accusing him of backing violent attacks against political opponents.
The accusations followed a violent attack on African Democratic Congress (ADC) members during their transition committee inauguration in Kaduna.
Pandemonium broke out Saturday as armed thugs carrying cutlasses, clubs, and stones stormed the event, leaving several participants injured.
Eyewitnesses confirmed the assailants vandalised vehicles and destroyed property, disrupting the opposition meeting and forcing attendees to flee for safety.
Reacting, El-Rufai accused, Uba Sani of sponsoring terrorism. Stressing that leaders must respect political freedoms and protect citizens from intimidation and violence.
He directly blamed Governor Sani, insisting his administration fuels insecurity by allegedly sponsoring groups to destabilise opposition activities in Kaduna.
According to El-Rufai, such actions betray democratic values and contradict the peace-oriented legacy he claimed to have left behind.
