Elon Musk, tech billionaire and owner of X, has expressed regret for some of his earlier posts, including one in which he accused President Donald Trump of being in classified FBI files relating to the disgraced paedophile financier late Jeffrey Epstein.
To show remorse for his harsh posts, Mr Musk tagged Mr Trump, admitting he went too far with his outburst.
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Mr Musk said in an X post.
This comes after the Tesla owner deleted an X post in where he implied Mr Trump might be a paedophile amid heated debated over the `One Big Beautiful Bill` Act.
Last Thursday, the U.S. president expressed disappointment in Musk’s criticism of his budget bill, saying, “Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore.”
Shortly after Mr Trump’s statment, Mr Musk, in a now-deleted post, implied Mr Trump was implicated in the high-profile transnational sex trafficking of minors case involving Mr Epstein, who died by suicide in his jail in August 2019 while awaiting trial.
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate. Such ingratitude,” Mr Musk said in another previous post on X.
The fall-out between the duo came days after Mr Musk stepped down as head of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and then launched attacks on Mr Trump-championed ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ act, which would extend tax cuts, fund immigration enforcement and impose new work requirements for enrollees of federal safety net programmes.
