The Caretaker Committee chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Enugu State, Dr Ben Nwoye, has described the recent dissolution of the Ward and Local Government executive committees as strategic to rebuild the party.
The dissolution was officially announced at the end of a critical stakeholders’ meeting of the party in Enugu West Senatorial District on Sunday.
Speaking with journalists on Monday in Enugu, Nwoye said the move remained part of the strategic efforts geared towards strengthening and repositioning the party for future political contests.
According to him, the action followed a directive from the party’s National Working Committee and was considered after extensive consultations with critical party stakeholders at both the national and state levels.
He said the dissolution will create room for a more inclusive and vibrant leadership structure that will reinvigorate the party’s presence at the grassroots.
“This dissolution is not a punishment; rather, it is a strategic move to rebuild the APC in Enugu State from bottom up.
“We want a party structure that truly represents the interests of our members, one that will be inclusive, transparent and accountable,” Nwoye said.
