The family of Mr. Emmanuel Ofobrukueta, a retired director of the Post-Primary Education Board (PPEB), has made a
passionate appeal to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to intervene in his rescue.
Ofobrukueta was kidnapped on January 12, 2025, in front of his residence in Mosogar, Delta State. The family’s
solicitor, Frank Tietie, expressed their distress and frustration over Ofobrukueta’s prolonged captivity, despite efforts
by the Delta State Police Command.
Tietie noted that the victim’s family is worried about his safety and well-being, especially since a ransom was paid
shortly after his abduction. The family suspects that a coordinated network of close associates, ransom handlers,
and kidnappers might be deliberately prolonging Ofobrukueta’s captivity.

They pointed to suspicious developments surrounding the ransom payment and intelligence from a private tracking
company, which suggests the involvement of persons close to the victim. Tietie emphasized that the Delta State
Police Command appears overwhelmed by the kidnappers’ tactics, prompting the family’s appeal to the IGP for
special intervention. The family hopes that the Nigeria Police Force, under the IGP’s leadership, will take decisive
action to secure Ofobrukueta’s release.
The IGP’s intervention is seen as crucial in unraveling the abduction and ensuring justice is served. Tietie stressed
that the family is counting on the police to dismantle any criminal network responsible for the kidnapping.
Ofobrukueta’s family described their appeal as an “SOS call,” highlighting the urgency of the situation and their
growing fear for his safety. They expressed hope that the police will intervene decisively to bring the ordeal to an end.
