The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) is launching a new television series as part of a bold move to combat tobacco use among minors in Nigeria. The television series titled: “Faith & Fortune” is consistent with the ongoing “Don’t Burn Their Future” campaign aimed at preventing or significantly reducing the access of Nigerian minors and consumption of tobacco products.
According to FCCPC, this campaign is also consistent with the National Tobacco Control Act’s (NTCA) goal of protecting youth from the dangers of tobacco use. “Faith & Fortune,” FCCPC noted, underlining its unwavering commitment to implementing the provisions of the NTCA and protecting the health and well-being of youth across Nigeria. The TV series begins on June 1, 2024, on DSTV Showcase Channel 151 at 6 pm.
The exciting 13-episode drama with an intriguing plot will air every Saturday at 6:00 pm and rebroadcast every Tuesday at 1:30 pm. “FCCPC is committed to protecting our country’s youth from the dangers of tobacco addiction, as required by the NTCA,” Dr. Adamu Abdullahi, Ag. He added, “With this television series, we aim to reach out to young and old people who sensibly influence their youth about the health risks associated with smoking and educate them, empower them to make healthy choices.” protective role. The commission has also opened a toll-free line – 0800-000-2121 – which Nigerians can call to speak to the police, report abuse, or speak to a counselor to get help when needed.
