In its effort to sanitize the aviation sector, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Friday revoked the air operator certificates of Eastwind Aviation Logistics Services Limited and Omni-Blu Aviation.
In a post on its X handle, the NCAA said the move is part of efforts to “further sanitize the aviation industry.
“The Authority has determined that both Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation are in violation of Part 1.2.1.5 of Nig. CARs on Falsification, Reproduction, or Alteration of Applications, Licences, Certificates, Logbooks, Reports, or Records,” the agency said.
“Part 1.2.1.5(b) of Nig. CARs provides the sanction for such fraud as revocation of the certificate.
“Consequently, their respective Air Operator Certificates OBA/AOC/12-15/002 and EAL/AOC/03-24/001 are hereby revoked.”
In October, a helicopter operated by Eastwind Aviation crash-landed in the Atlantic Ocean. It was carrying eight persons, with one surviving.
Max Air has suspended operations for three months following a disaster at Mallam Aminu International Airport in Kano.
The aircraft’s landing gear tyre failed during landing, resulting in the disaster.
However, the airline stated that the situation was handled effectively and that staff members and passengers were safely evacuated. There were no injuries.
The NCAA said Max Air’s suspension of operations will allow it to evaluate its internal procedures.
