The Federal Government greeted Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States of America while seeking closer ties with the first world nation.
On Monday, President Donald Trump was sworn in for his historic second term.
According to a statement signed by Kimiebi Ebienfa, Acting Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Tuesday, Nigeria and the United States have cooperated in a variety of areas of mutual interest, particularly promoting good governance, sustainable development, and combating terrorism and violent extremism.
“Nigeria therefore looks forward to further strengthening our historic, strong, and vibrant strategic partnership for the benefit of all our people,” the statement added.
Trump was sworn in for a historic second term as president on Monday.
Upon his inauguration, he immediately spelt out over 100 policies that he intended to enact, the most prominent of which was a threat to revoke birthright citizenship for immigrants and visitors who did not have permission to stay in the country.
He also threatened to deport illegal immigrants already in the country.
