Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), has urged African leaders to look within for financial options for their continent.
According to the developmental economist, Africa must shift its thinking and recognize chances in the face of seeming challenges.
“Access to aid, I think we can begin to think of it as a thing of the past,” the former Nigerian finance minister said at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The speaker emphasized the need for Africa to shift its thinking and see chances amidst the delay in global funding for US health and education projects in various countries.
According to Okonjo-Iweala, African leaders must attract investment and mobilise resources to cope with the current social and economic realities brought about by Trump’s policies.
