Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State, has denied claims that he is associated with militant organisations, calling recent videos and remarks on social media phoney and malevolent attempts to stir up unrest in the state.
He called on security services to look into the matter and take firm action against those who disseminate false
informationHis Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, released a statement in which Fubara denounced the
dissemination of fake video that allegedly showed explosions at petrol and oil installations in the state.
Affected communities have refuted the allegations, according to the statement, which also guaranteed that all vital
infrastructure is still in place and functional.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no link to any militant group, does not contemplate any
such association, and has no reason to encourage any criminal elements to undertake actions that threaten peace,
security, or the economy,” the statement read.

Reiterating that government and development can only flourish in a stable environment, Fubara reaffirmed his
commitment to preserving peace in Rivers State.
Additionally, he cautioned against attempts to use the state’s protracted political crisis for personal gain.
Fubara went on to warn social media influencers and bloggers against disseminating misleading information, saying
that doing so could exacerbate tensions and upset the peace.
